Paddle Break-In
Do you really want a super powerful paddle?
We're comparing 4 paddles:
-
a Pulse V with 4 months of playing time
-
a Pulse V with 3 weeks of playing time
-
a Pulse V with no playing time
-
a 16mm Neonic Flare
The increase in block speed from a New Pulse V right out of the box to my Old Pulse V that was in play for 4 months is huge. Blocking a ball coming towards you at 40 mph will rebound at 10 mph for a New Pulse V, but at 15 mph for a broken in Pulse V. That difference could result in a popped up or out-of-bounds shot rather than a drop at the opponent's feet.

The difference in serve speed between the fastest paddle (Old Pulse V) and the slowest paddle (Neonic) is somewhere between 5 and 10 mph depending on the paddle velocity.
I always thought I wanted a power paddle. I was jealous of the players that had one. But once I got one (the Old Pulse V) I learned I didn't have the skill to control it. I'm back to using the less powerful New Pulse V and am enjoying it. The Old Pulse V has been retired.
